Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
